AARO's Recommendation on Upgrades, Q3 2025:

  • AARO always recommend an upgrade to the latest available version. This ensures access to new functionality and provides the most recent bug fixes and security updates.
  • Note! For customers managing extra asset classes, upgrades will require additional planning to ensure a smooth transition. Your Key Account Manager is available to guide you through these changes.

Please note that with the release of AARO25 we no longer maintain AARO23. Our recommendation is to upgrade to AARO25.

AARO25

25.3

  • AARO Basepackage IFRS 18 is a new standard from IASB, published in April 2024, and it replaces the current IAS 1 Presentation of Financial Statements. The purpose of IFRS 18 is to improve comparability and clarity in financial reports, especially regarding the income statement and how companies present their financial performance. The AARO Base Package is updated with reports adapted to the new requirements of IFRS 18. The reports included in the 25.3 release are income statement by nature, income statement by function, and an updated balance sheet. If you are already using AARO we are offering the implementation of IFRS 18 as a consultancy service. In an upcoming release, we will also launch a cash flow analysis that complies with IFRS 18 requirements.
  • AARO Lease IFRS 16 we’ve taken the next step by releasing full calculation support for indexation. This covers the entire workflow: identifying and categorizing relevant contracts, applying index calculations, and updating the payment plan – all in one bulk operation. The goal is to improve efficiency in the contract update process, especially during period closing. The new version focuses on the most common scenarios and was developed with direct input from customers to ensure better usability and higher adoption.

25.2

  • AARO Lease IFRS 16 we have allowed using both a periodic schedule and a manual schedule in the payment plan. This will allow contracts to be converted from a manual schedule to a periodic one and will also allow more flexibility to add non-recurring payments in the manual schedule as addition to a periodic schedule. This does not affect the calculations of upgraded contracts since the payment schedules are maintained as they were set up before the upgrade. There is only a visible difference in the contract view since there are now two separate buttons for the different payment schedules.

25.1

  • AARO we have implemented SIE file conversion to TXT in the Web client menu Import Admin in addition to existing Import functionality of TXT files. We support conversion of SIE file formats 1 – 4. The former conversion tool SIEFileConverter.exe and Windows client menu IMPORT are considered legacy and are not supported in future versions. SIEFileConverter.exe is removed from the current and future versions. For text file import the Web client menu Import Admin should be used.
  • AARO Lease IFRS 16 The possibility to Terminate or Delete contracts through Bulk edit was added. However, we have still temporarily disabled the index functionality. Note that indexation can still be handled manually with an update in the payment plan. We have simplified the Index configuration interface to help you categorize contracts with similar index clause terms and it is moved from the payment plan to the Contract index section in the contract view. This provides better support for you who prefer to handle index calculations manually. This change will have an impact on upgrading customers since the index configuration parameters must be reset to meet the new format. Other changes in this version have mainly focused on finetuning the product since the first release of a rewritten Lease logic.

25.0

  • AARO Security & Audit, our new logging tool replacing the old AARO Logger. In the first version of the product the development focus has been on Security (defined as user events such as sign in/sign offs and logs related to user access administration), system management changes (such as edit accounts, edit periods, edit dimensions etc) and data entry changes (changes to data entry input accounts).
  • AARO we want to highlight a step taken to improve the user experience in reports where we have removed the preferred selection memory (last selected value) for Period and Time Series when used as parameters. Now, the saved period(-s) or the current period settings for Time Series are applied instead.
  • AARO Lease IFRS 16 we have re-introduced the possibility to configure the Share distribution with up to two dimensions.

Deactivated functionality from AARO 24.3 and later

  • AARO Lease IFRS16 Automatic retirement in excel import, a setting which can be turned on or off.
  • AARO Divest button in Legal – automated transactions for reversal and moving ownership when selling subsidiary assets, investments (shares), or divisions of a company. This functionality will stay deactivated until we rework our Acquisition register functionality.

Solved known issues in AARO25.3.1. (AARO and AARO Lease IFRS 16)

AARO25.3.1

AARO Excel add-in sometimes stops working after automatic session timeout.

Issue: When an automatic session timeout happens while connected to AARO Excel add-in sometimes it stops working. The preceding actions are: After clicking OK in sequential warning messages about inactivity, the ‘HTTP/1.1 302 Found’ error appears. The user stays logged in for a short idle time 5-10 min. If the user continues working with Excel add-in, the messages repeat. When the user gets the ‘Connection is lost’ message sometimes it is possible to log in again and continue work. If the idle time is greater than 10 min, the user gets logged off but continue to see the warning message about inactivity and ‘HTTP/1.1 302 Found’ error. In this case it is impossible to relogin.

Workaround: Restart Excel and then log in to AARO add-in.

Release note: The session timeout for all AARO parts is set up in server settings. A warning appears in 5 minutes before the timeout (or half the period if the timeout is less than 5 min.) with the suggestion to continue or close.

Export of reports with relative periods to Excel and PDF with Parameter selection does not work properly.

Issue: When a report has relative period settings and is exported to Excel or PDF from the report tree then the applied period can be incorrect or the report can be corrupted or blank.

Workaround: 1) Export each report from the open state with the selected period; 2) Move reports with relative periods into a separate folder.

Release note: Values selected in Parameter selection with ‘Override all criteria’ should apply to all reports having these parameters as selectable or static. Values selected in Parameter selection but without ‘Override all criteria’ are applied to selectable parameters but not to static values.

Current Period settings by Year and Period Index are applied for the Time Series (Monthly’s) Base Period when the relative period setting is activated in a report with and without selection lists on any axes.
