For the fourth Christmas in a row, we are donating to a school for orphans in Kenya, as our Christmas gift.
One of our AARO offices are to be found in Nairobi, Kenya. There is no doubt that it is a country of great beauty and wealth, yet it is also a land of poverty. Orphan children are often forced to live on the streets for a variety of reasons.
The Nchiru Children’s Village, with 900 children and three schools, is the recipient of our yearly donation, and we know it reaches the children. The village was founded over two decades ago by Father Francis Limo Riwa, who has also been involved in the fight against child marriage.
Since 2019 and until today, our contributions have led to vital purchases and educational equipment, such as sleeping mattresses and bedding, blankets and clothes, dietary supplements and hygiene items, computers, and improvement and increasing of the school’s self-sufficiency agricultural activities.
Last year’s gift was earmarked for the development of a local food production program, and during 2022 a water sprinkler system run by solar pump panels, was established on 18 acres of land. The project both provided increased food security for the village, as well as jobs for people in the area.
